Welcome!
A quick note before we get into the new format.
Starting this week, the newsletter you've been reading has a new name: Unlock Your Exit.
The old name, Unlock Your Wealth was honest but too broad. Wealth is the outcome. The exit is the event that creates it, and it's the moment where most lower-middle-market owners leave real money on the table because nobody told them what buyers actually pay for.
So the new promise is narrower and more useful: every issue, you'll get intel directly relevant to what your business is worth and how to sell it well when the time comes.
Two formats, rotating weekly:
The Transaction Debrief — a recent closing in your vertical, broken down. Revenue band, buyer type, multiple range, and the strategic read: what the buyer actually paid for, and what the seller did 18–36 months before close to earn that price.
The Owner Playbook — one specific lever you can pull right now to increase enterprise value in your vertical. Not generic build-to-sell advice. Specific, data-backed, and sourced from conversations we’re having with active acquirers every week.
A short word on me, since the format demands more trust:
I'm Andrew, founder of Unlock Your Exit. I write about what's happening in the M&A market for owner-operator businesses, what I'm learning from operators I interview, deals I work on, and buyers I talk to. The goal is to help owners understand what their business is worth, what makes it more valuable, and what selling actually looks like long before they're ready to do it. I'm not a former operator telling you how I sold my company once. I'm reporting from inside the transaction, in real time, in your vertical.
If you want a baseline on what your business is worth before we start sending you market intel against it, you can run a free valuation here:
This Thursday, the first Transaction Debrief lands. Whether you're in trades or recurring services, project-based work, distribution, manufacturing, or anything else lower-middle-market, there's something coming for you.
— Andrew
P.S. If Unlock Your Exit isn't what you're here for, the unsubscribe link is at the bottom. No hard feelings. The owners who stay will be getting something genuinely different from what's in their inbox today.
